The HdM Institute for Applied AI conducts research and development projects in various subfields of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The common denominator of our projects is the focus on the application side and generally, an inter- and transdisciplinary approach where deep domain knowledge meets state of the art AI approaches. With funding from the German Research Foundation, the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Research and various industry partners we are excited to work on such diverse fields as Automotive, Smart Cities or Cultural Heritage. The bandwidth of tasks within those fiels is equally diverse, ranging from core Machine Learning over Big Data Analytics to Digital Ethics.

Spotlight - Humanoid Lab

In March 2021, we strengthened our research in the field of human-machine-interaction with the inauguration of our new "Humanoid Lab."
We focus on the social and ethical issues that naturally arise with ever increasing technological progress in this field.

What can AI do for me?
What can AI do for me?

Mit „What can AI do for me?“ soll in Unternehmen, Verbänden und Forschungseinrichtungen vorhandenes Wissen über KI-Wertschöpfungspotenziale in eine Software-Applikationen überführt werden.

fid_judaica
FID Jüdische Studien

The “FID Judaica” is an expert information service (Fachinformationsdienst) for the domain of Jewish studies. This service is developed at the University Library Johann Christian Senckenberg in Frankfurt. IAAI takes care of the large-scale data integration and enrichment to contexualize the provided resources and to support innovative retrieval concepts.

jvmg
Japanese Visual Media Graph

The goal of the project is the creation of a consolidated graph-based database on all types of Japanese visual media, specifically manga, anime and chracter-driven computer games like visual novels. Data models and retrieval functions will be modelled to conform to the requirements of researchers from the fields of Japan studies or media science.

locdb
Linked Open Citation Database (LOC-DB)

The LOC-DB project develops ready-to-use tools and processes based on the linked-data-technology that make it possible for a single library to meaningfully contribute to an open, distributed infrastructure for cataloguing of citations.

project_koffi
Kooperative Fahrer-Fahrzeug-Interaktion (KoFFI)
